2023 Holiday Book Exchange

This holiday season we are once again doing our book exchange for Shelf Explored Book Club! Michaela and Jacilyn have picked one of their favorite books to share with the other. The picks could be any book as long as the other person had not read it before and was less than 400 pages. We are very excited about our picks and we hope you enjoy this holiday fun!

Michaela's Pick:

Jacilyn: This year it feels harder to guess what Michaela might have chosen! It was also really difficult for me to decide what to choose for her this year. I think perhaps Michaela might choose a romance of some sort this year for me.

We’ve both been enjoying the wave of contemporary romances coming out lately, so I can see her going that route.

Michaela: It’s been really hard picking out a book for this gift exchange. I read a lot of books that I really enjoyed this year but a lot of them I just don’t think would be up Jac’s ally. While we like to challenge ourselves here at Shelf Explored, I want to make sure I’m choosing something with the best chance of enjoyment at the same time, especially with gift exchanges.

This year I think I will actually be going with a sequel to a book we read for Shelf Explored this year. I am choosing Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail by Ashley Herring Blake, the sequel to our January read from this year Delilah Green Doesn’t Care. I loved this book. It felt so familiar because we get all those characters back but the journey Astrid goes through is so different from Delilah’s. I think Jac will really love this book and she might have a few tears at Astrid’s journey, I know I did! And the chemistry with the main characters…ooooo I love it! So excited for this book exchange.

Jacilyn's Pick:

Michaela: This year is so hard to know what Jac might have chosen. I know she’s done a little re-reading, so maybe we’ll be delving into a new series. Or perhaps she’s chosen something completely out of left field from what I'm thinking. Truly no idea this year!

Jacilyn: This year I ended up choosing When Women Were Dragons. Many of my coworkers read the book earlier this year and they’ve been recommending it to me since. This is a book I haven’t actually read yet, but I thought it would make a good discussion book while also scratching that magical itch. I’m excited to experience this book with Michaela!

We hope you all are excited for our book exchange discussions and the books we chose! Here's to a happy and story filled holidays! Cheers!
