Final Thoughts:
Jacilyn: I loved this book. It’s definitely more character-driven than plot-driven, which is different from the books I typically gravitate towards. It took awhile to become accustomed to the shift in focus, but it made the reading experience unique and by the end of the book I was dying to read more about this family of incredibly strong women, who draw strength from each other. I had a sense of unease throughout the majority of the story, and in a way it was like Jimmy’s spirit was affecting me as it was the characters. While the uneasiness made the reading less-than-comfortable at times, the magical, lovely end of the journey was worth it.
Michaela: This book at first was hard for me to get into because the writing style was so different from what I’m used to reading but after I got used to it being a character-driven story it was really enjoyable. The author’s writing really sucks you into the characters and the story. I felt like I could not put it down because I needed to know what was happening with everyone. The characters felt very real and the magic throughout the book seemed to be very grounded in reality. While a whimsical story, it felt like it could have been happening right now to someone you know. It was truly a magical read, in so many ways.
