Final Thoughts:
Jacilyn: This book was an interesting combination of magical realism and suspense. I’d definitely consider it more a plot-driven book than a character-driven one, and I think that impacts my enjoyment of it a bit. The main thing I love about fiction is becoming attached to characters, and while I was fond of some of the characters in this book, I didn’t fall in love with any of them. That isn’t to say I didn’t enjoy the book, though. I never truly knew what to expect from the story as a whole, and there’s not many books that have made me feel that way!
Michaela: This book has such a cool concept and it’s definitely a page turner. But at the same time the characters and some of the plot are a little weak. The bones of the story are there for an extremely intriguing mystery but so much is left to the abstract and enough requires a suspense of disbelief that it was a little lack luster at some points. I really did enjoy this book and I would recommend it but with some caveats.
