Final Thoughts:

Michaela: The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary was so much more than what I expected. I laughed, I cried, I was worried, I was scared, I was happy. So many emotions ran through this book. It was more than a nice love story, there was friendship, personal growth, and confronting past traumas. The premise of the book was extraordinary circumstances but with very realistic and well written characters. I could not put this book down. The love story itself is adorable and lovely but all the side characters really take this book to a whole new level. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys that romcom feel but with real life situations and real characters.

Jacilyn: The Flatshare is yet another contemporary romance that I’ve approached with some uncertainty and got me hooked. I had a really hard time stopping in between each section because I just wanted more of Tiffy and Leon, and the lovely cast of characters in their lives. Something I’ve noticed in the contemporary romances I’ve read has been characters that are dealing with serious issues and reading those depictions feels really important to me. Tiffy and Leon were no different, both dealing with prior relationships that weren’t what they were cracked up to be. In addition to good protagonists, no story like this is complete without a cast of characters along for the ride that are just as nuanced, and Beth O’Leary really delivers in that regard. This book was absolutely made for a tv or film adaptation, with some scenes that are quintessential romcom fodder. This was a great book!
